Gareth Corrigan
Our very own Gareth Corrigan visited our class on 11th Dec and sang "Beautiful Glaslough "Will you go Lassie Go,"and " St Mary's is the Best." all featured on his C.D. called "Songs for the School." It was very special to hear Gareth perform in person and we all joined in a few festive songs before he left.
Fractions We studied fractions and learned that when using fractions - everything is divided into equal parts. We looked at pictures and had to complete the other half.
Carol Service
To celebrate Christmas, we sang in Our Carol Service in St. Mary's Church Glennan on Thursday 12th December. Rang 1 & 2 sang 'Do You Hear What I Hear?' ' Go Tell It On The Mountain' 'Mary's Boy Child' and we joined in the whole school finale 'Joy To The World.' It was a very special night. We would like to thank Dr Connie Hale for all her help.
Christmas Art
The Christmas Tree reminds us of the Christmas story. The evergreen tree reminds us that God is ever present. The star on top of the tree remind us of the star that led the 3 Wise Men to Bethlehem. Candy canes remind us of the Shepherds crook. The Angels symbolise the Angels that announced Jesus' Birth. The lights symbolise Jesus as the light of the world. The gifts under the tree remind us of all the gifts God has given us.

We made flowerpots using newspaper. Did you know that honey is the only natural product that never " goes off! " Honey does not need a best before date! Honey was found buried in some of the pyramids in Egypt and although it hardened, once it was warmed and softened, it tasted perfect even after all those years.

Our P.E. culminated in learning gymnastics at the end of this school term. We learned about safety, balance, making different shapes, moving different parts of our body and putting together a sequence of movements.
We had good fun.

We had great fun as well as learning new skills such as holding the ball correctly “ W “ position, shooting a basketball into the net, forward pivot and reverse pivot. Bouncing in a “V” shape and ending with a game each day. So watch out Blackwater Steelers!!!
September 2012
Our First Science Experiment.
In Science, we are learning about decomposition. We buried rubbish and will monitor what rots and what does not. As we are a Green School, we need to dispose of our rubbish in an environmentally friendly way. Think of our Green School Motto “ REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE.”
OCTOBER 2012
October has proved to be a very busy month for us.
To celebrate Monaghan Walking Week, we went on a
Nature Walk and collected leaves which we used for our leaf printing.
Thursday 10th October was National Tree Day. We had a speaker called Catriona from The National Council of Ireland. We performed a “Tree Dance” and learned new terminology such as – canopy, shrub, flower and ground to describe the different layers.
We planted various types of Daffodil bulbs.
We hope they will raise their golden yellow heads in the Spring.
