Healthy Lunches
Health promotion and healthy eating are highlighted in our school on an ongoing basis. To re-inforce this message we have developed a healthy school lunch policy. Children who eat healthy food are better able to concentrate on their schoolwork and make better progress in school.
We would encourage children to have lunches that are
* low in fat, sugar and salt
* high in fibre
We recommend:
Sandwiches (tuna, ham, cheese, salmon, egg, salad etc).
Bread rolls (wholemeal or white), brown scones, fruit scones, muesli bars, wholegrain or digestive biscuits
Fresh fruit (apples, oranges, pears, peaches, strawberries, raspberries, grapes, kiwis, plums)
Drinks: We encourage all children to take milk from our school milk scheme – available to all children at a very reasonable cost.
Fruit Juices, Yogurt drinks or water are also to be recommended.
The following foods / drinks are strictly not allowed: Crisps(of any kind), sweets, chocolate bars, chewing gum and fizzy drinks.
