Four Village Cycle 2014
Report by Rachel Lavery and Emily Brennan
This year 5th and 6th went on their annual village cycle on the 23rd June.
We were divided into three different groups and we all set off at 10am. We stopped at Middletown Bridge for a quick rest. We took a minute to get a nice cold drink because we were all warm with the sunny weather. We cycled through Middletown Village taking in all the sights.
Next we went to Tynan. We stopped at the Servant`s Gate and got a big group photo. There was a massive hill that nearly everyone had to walk up. We were all getting hungry by this time.
We travelled from Tynan to Caledon. We saw the main gates into Caledon estate and we also saw more Servant`s gates. We stopped in Caledon Park and ate our lunch. There was an old bridge that we all went on. We all decided to sit on the edge of the bridge and look down at the flowing water. We went through Caledon village and finally took a road back towards Glaslough. The road was lovely with old cottages made from stone. There was a donkey standing in the doorway of a rundown cottage.
We stopped at Trudie Duffy`s house for a break. She gave us Mr Freeze ice pops and a nice refreshing drink. We went on the swings and played soccer. Before we left, Trudie gave us rocky roads.
We left Trudie`s at 2.20pm and made our way back to Glaslough village. At the village we heard a loud bang. Emily`s tire had burst!! Emily had to walk back to school.
Everyone was tired and relieved by the time we reached school. We enjoyed the day very much
