First Aid Course
The boys and girls have just completed a 6 week Basic First Aid course, run by Monaghan Civil Defense. Throughout the 6 weeks the children took part in group activities giving them essentail training in things like CPR, the recovery position, how to call an ambulance and answer questions, dressing and bandaging wounds. This was a valuable experience for all involved and one which the children thoroughly enjoyed!
Let's hear what the children had to say . . . . .
The First Aid Course was a very enjoyable 6 weeks.
We learned how to answer questions if you ring for an ambulance, preform CPR and how to put on bandages and a sling.
The Volunteers from the Civil Defense who came out to teach us are Megan, Jim, Brendan and Brian.
On week 4 they brought us out the Ambulance. In our groups we made up a role play then we went to see the inside of the Ambulance. Brian the paramedic took our blood pressure and monitored our heart beats.
If there was another First Aid Course i would certainly take part again.

For the last 6 weeks our After Schools Club took part in a First Aid Course.
On week 5 we were put into groups of 4 and we had to fill out a questionnaire so we could get our certificate. We also got to go in the Ambulance. It was amazing. We learned how to put on a neck brace when someone is in an accident and also to use a suction pump.
The First Aid Course is brilliant and I hope we can do another 6 weeks.

Pancake Tuesday
On Tuesday 4th March we celebrated Shrove Tuesday. Miss Treanor and Miss Bothwell made us pancakes. They were so yummy. We covered them with chocolate spread, butter and sugar or jam. We are very lucky because pancakes are my favourite.
