Lord Mayor of Glaslough Fundraiser

On Saturday 23rd February 2013 the Parents Association of St. Mary’s National School, Glaslough, in partnership the School Board of Management will be launching a major fundraising effort aimed at raising much needed funds to improve car parking facilities and to develop a new sports ground at the school.

The 2013 fundraising effort titled “Lord Mayor of Glaslough” will see a number of well known locals battling it out for the title of Lord Mayor during the course of the spring and summer months. A number of fundraising events involving each of the candidates will be held in the coming months and further details relating to these events will be publicised nearer the time.  Recent years have seen significant improvements carried out at the school including a new classroom extension and the development of the impressive biodiversity garden which was constructed through partnership with Glaslough Tidy Towns. The next objective of the Board of Management and the Parents Association is to provide additional and safer carparking facilities at the school as the present arrangement is particularly dangerous. It is another objective to provide enhanced sports field facilities at the school and the fundraising effort being proposed is aimed at raising funds toward these much needed improvements.

The launch of the “Lord Mayor of Glaslough” will be held in the Oakland Centre on Saturday 23rd February at 9.00pm. On the night the candidates competing for the title of “Lord Mayor of Glaslough” will be unveiled. Music on the night will be provided by renowned local band Beetroot and a good night’s crack is guaranteed. Full bar facilities will be provided on the night. Tickets for the launch night cost only €10 and are available from St. Mary’s School or from any member of the Parents Association.

Anyone associated with St Mary’s Glaslough School both past and present is encouraged to support the school in its efforts and are most welcome to attend on the night. Tickets for the night cost only €10 each and can be purchased directly from St Mary’s school or by contacting the following members of St Mary’s Parents  Association.

Glaslough School children support the candidates for Lord Mayor.

The children of St.Mary's School,Glaslough were busy this week in art and computer  classes. Each child was assigned a candidate in the Lord Mayor Election and asked to compose a slogan of support and produce a poster in favour of their candidate.Their creative juices did indeed flow and their artistic abilities are to be commended.
